Each individual is expected to raise a minimum of £150. Two thirds of the funds raised by the team will go to York Mind, and one third to York Rotary's nominated charity/charities for that year.

We are excited to once again be a part of The York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge 2024! Compete with 35 other teams, paddling down the river ouse on a 250 metre course from Scarborough Bridge to YCRC Clubhouse... all whilst in fancy dress!
Our theme for this year (inspired by the recent beloved Glasgow experience) is Willy Wonka! Come dressed as Willy Wonka himself, an Oompa Loompa or as one of the 4 not-so-lucky golden ticket winners, and jump in a boat for a day of fundraising.
Dragon Boat Racing is an exciting way of motivating and integrating people, making it perfect for corporations. It quickly gets everyone working together in a fun competitive environment, and is a superb platform for team building. The event provides a high profile opportunity to support local charities which make such a valuable contribution to York’s community, as well as generating funds for York Mind as your chosen charity.
Stalls and a variety of activities are planned alongside the River to create a Gala Day atmosphere to compliment the Dragon Boat Racing. Race participants and their family and friends as supporters along with spectators are expected to number a few thousand. This is a substantial promotional opportunity for companies and organisations.

1How much do I need to raise?
2How big is the team?
We are looking to form a team of 20, made up of 16 paddlers, 1 drummer and up to 3 reserves. A helmsman will be provided by the event organisers.
3Are there any medical restrictions?
Members of the team must be reasonably fit and able to swim at least 50 metres wearing a buoyancy aid. If you are unsure whether you can take part, please seek advice from your doctor.
