Mental Health Awareness Week

We are inviting young people to take part in our collaborative campaign with Children In Distress, this May, in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week (13–19 May) and International Day of Families (15 May).

The project is a chance for children to reflect on a vital topic through art and writing:

“What does family mean to you?”

There’s no single answer, family looks different to everyone.

Through this campaign, we aim to celebrate love, diversity, kindness, and emotional wellbeing by encouraging young people to express what family means each individual.

Here’s how you can get involved:

• Children are invited to submit a drawing or short written piece exploring the theme - what does family mean to them?

Submissions should be sent to beth.cameron@yorkmind.org.uk via email by Friday, 23rd May, 5pm, along with a completed parent/carer consent form included in the campaign pack - download this here.

One entry will be drawn at random to win a Family Day Out Experience (details TBC).

• Selected entries will be showcased on our website, social media, and in charity publications like VISION.

Every participating school, community hub, and organisation, will receive a digital certificate of appreciation, and most importantly, will play a role in helping children build empathy and self-awareness in a positive, creative way.

We truly hope you will join us in encouraging young people to reflect, create, and connect through this meaningful campaign!
