Young People’s (13 to 15 years of age) Freelance Counsellors

York Mind’s Young People’s counselling service promotes positive mental health through providing a confidential space for young people to talk to a trained person about something that is on their mind or is a problem to them. We have been given the opportunity to pilot this service with the new, younger age group of 13 -15, and are looking for freelance counsellors to join the team. Our service delivers time limited support (6 sessions), and it is essential that you are comfortable working in this way with young people.   Requirements for the role include:

  •  A graduate diploma in counselling with either additional training or experience in working with young people aged 13 to 15;
  • Experience of working with young people both in person and remotely by telephone or video-call;
  • Registration with a recognised professional body e.g. BACP, UKCP.
  • Experience of working in a time-limited way (6 sessions);
  • Available to work with 4 to 8 young people per week;
  • Availability to offer sessions during a mid-afternoon/ early evening sessions (i.e. outside of school hours);
  • Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance certificate, minimum value £1,000,000;
  • A Disclosure and Baring Certificate (dated 12 months or less from date of appointment).
