We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced freelance facilitator to join us to deliver a series of arts based young people’s groups.
As part of our wider young people’s programme, we will be delivering 4 weekly groups in various school settings, with the aim of supporting young people to increase their resilience and feel better able to manage their mental health. Groups will be broken down according to school years, and will include:
- Years 5-6
- Years 7-8
- Years 9-11
- Years 12 +
We are looking for an experienced freelance facilitator, who has demonstrable experience of delivering arts based activities with young people. To apply, please follow the instructions at the bottom of this page.
We are opening this role out as either one single post or two separate posts. Please indicate on your Expression of Interest what your preferred option is.
As one post:
70 hours planning, prep and coordination until December 2019, working pattern to be discussed with team.
156 Hours Delivery from January – April 2020 to be broken down into:
- 4 x 3 hour weekly groups for 12 weeks, including set up and close down time
- 6 fortnightly 2 hour meetings with wider project team.
As two posts:
40 hours planning, prep and coordination until December 2019, working pattern to be discussed with team.
84 hours delivery from January – April 2020
- 2 x 3 hour weekly groups, including set up and close down.
- 6 fortnightly 2 hour meetings with the wider project team
- Up to date DBS check (within the last 12 months
- Public liability insurance
- Health and Safety Policy or a commitment to York Mind’s Health and Safety Policy
- Equality and Diversity Policy, or a commitment to York Mind’s Equality and Diversity Policy.
Skills and Experience Required
Experience of group facilitation
Experience of delivering arts based activities (this may be in a range of mediums, such as music, film-making, or visual art).
Experience of working with young people, particularly in a group setting
A detailed understanding of the principles and benefits of art based and life skills interventions for young people
Knowledge and understanding of the key societal issues that young people are currently facing
Proven ability to work on your own initiative, identifying potential problems and applying appropriate solutions
Ability to manage complex group dynamics
£20 per hour
