How we help

mind on a mural (Facebook Post) (1)

York Mind’s Young People’s Team are happy to announce the launch of "My Mind on a Mural", the first of our men's suicide prevention programmes.

“My Mind on a Mural” is an early intervention and suicide prevention programme designed to promote open conversations amongst young men (11-16).

The project was designed with and for young men in response to the knowledge that generally young men stop talking around age 11. We want to change that!

This Project is a Graffiti and Art Project aimed at young men aged 11-16, who are struggling with mental health difficulties. Using the arts as a stimulus, participants will be invited to explore stories and personal experiences of mental health. The project is designed to promote open conversations around men's mental health using a combination of relational, peer support, listening and psycho-education models.

Over the course of the intervention (16 weeks), young people will take an active role in discovering and developing their skills in different art forms whilst producing art works based on real and imagined narratives. These artworks will be displayed throughout York City Centre for public viewing.

Our Initial groups are due to begin at the end of September 2022 and we are now OPEN TO REFERRALS

REFERRALS CLOSE on Friday the 26th August 2022
