How we help

Creative Lives (11-21)

Paint pots_low

Our ‘Creative Lives’ project aims to support young people in gaining a better understanding in a variety of life skills. As part of this project we will be offering three open groups aimed at different age ranges for young people struggling with their mental health or emotions. The groups will be based within York Mind. The topics of Life Skills will be explored through different art forms, with experienced facilitators running the sessions. Each group will run for a period of 12 weeks, during which you will gain an accredited arts award certificate.

All groups will be person-centred, with group facilitators and assistants working alongside you in order to support and strengthen your knowledge and skills. The groups will aim to enable you to identify and put into practice positive coping strategies for your mental health and wellbeing.

The next round of Creative Lives groups will be starting in April 2020. Spaces are available for the age groups below.

11-13 Tuesday Evening Groups

Our age 11-13 Tuesday evening groups will look at a range of life skills which can be enforced in daily life. The group will focus on topics such as understanding/coping with emotions, kindness, stress/pressures and the topic of uniqueness and worth. Referrals for this group are currently open.

13-16 Wednesday Evening Groups

Our age 13-16 Wednesday evening groups will explore the concept of diversity, self-worth and independence. Topics covered within this will include relationships, stabilising emotions, advocating for rights and future education/employment. Referrals for this group are currently open

16-21 Thursday Evening Groups

Our age 16-21 Thursday evening groups will explore similar themes such as healthy and unhealthy relationships, stabilising emotions, advocating for rights and future education/employment. At this level you will look in depth into the issues which you may face as a young person and how you might overcome this. Referrals for this group are currently open.
