Nick Clegg joins York and District Mind as the hundredth member
York and District Mind takes great pleasure to welcome Nick Clegg MP as it’s 100th member, a real milestone for the charity based at Castlegate, York. Nick Clegg, (pictured with Mind Director Mike Beckett at the York and District Mind offices) joined to help raise awareness of mental health and this milestone comes as the charity launches Get Moving week (3-10 October) a campaign that brings people together through sport to challenge mental health discrimination. To mark the celebrations locally they will be hosting a family fun day on World Mental Health Day (Saturday 10 October) at the Retreat Hospital.
Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats, agreed to join and support York and District Mind thanks to the persuasive powers of Mind member Madeleine Kirk, Prospective Liberal Democrat MP for York Outer Constituency. The endorsement of York and District Mind by the leader of a major national political party is hoped to be advantageous in raising membership, much needed funds and most importantly in raising awareness of the work of the staff and volunteers at York and District Mind and the high quality services they provide together.
